Think of a Life Coach as a facilitator and motivator. A tour guide on your journey to discover your truth. Imagine you are on vacation and you want to travel to a popular tourist spot. Sounds fun right? And you want to get there right now! You can rent a car and use Google Maps to get you there, no problem. Sure the map will tell you to turn right, where you are in relation to the map – it could mean a longer more uncomfortable journey, or perhaps you get lost, give up, and turn around. Never getting to see the particular relic.
Now, instead of renting a car and using a map, let’s say you went with a tour guide instead. They know the short cuts, the steep hills to avoid, or take you through fun, less known attractions. They know the areas to avoid all together. The tour guide has probably helped many other tourists to navigate the same waterfall or relic. They have experience. With their guidance, you are much less likely to get hurt or to get lost. You are much less likely to give up. How many times have you felt lost, hurt, afraid and just want to give up?
The difference in these two scenarios is only having information versus having a tour guide who knows more. Having a coach is like having a tour guide. You get clarity, validation, unbiased feedback, and someone to talk to. Like a tour guide, a good coach provides reassurance and guidance throughout your journey.
